Global Graduate Program

In the Carl Zeiss Graduate Program, internationality is guaranteed – you will be assigned to an interesting project abroad for at least five months. Through the interdisciplinary and interdepartmental orientation of the program, you will be ideally prepared for your later role in the company. In this way, you will place your qualifications on a broad, sound foundation and, in the space of just 15 months, create the ideal starting position for an excellent technical and management career.

You have completed your studies in science, engineering or business with a great deal of ambition, interest and enthusiasm. You may have already been awarded a doctorate. You now want to take advantage of the diverse career opportunities which await you at one of the world's most innovative technology leaders.

If so, we look forward to your application for the Carl Zeiss Global Graduate Program!

Through our Global Graduate Program, we enable you to approach the topics and tasks of your future role in the company in an interdisciplinary and interdepartmental manner. Your qualifications thus provide you with a broad, solid foundation. The program lasts 15 months. During this period, you will be qualified to fill a demanding position involving interfacing tasks – your starting point for an excellent technical or management career at Carl Zeiss.

The Global Graduate Program is individually tailored to you and your future position: In three cross-functional and/or cross-divisional assignments, you will take on responsibility for strategic projects and important operational activities. At least one of these assignments will be completed abroad. The program language is English.

Another highlight of the Global Graduate Program are the "base camps." Each participant in the Global Graduate Program takes part in this week-long networking event twice. Within the scope of the "base camps," all participants in the program from around the world meet to work on joint projects and learn more about products, technologies and about the history of Carl Zeiss.

Throughout the program, a personal supervisor and a mentor will be on hand and will provide supervision in your specialist area. Your supervisor will support you in obtaining all the necessary qualifications, and will discuss participation in off-the-job training programs with you – in areas such as project management, presentation techniques or intercultural training.

After the 15 months in the Carl Zeiss Global Graduate Program, you will have gained a comprehensive overview of the company's structures, processes and technologies, and gained extensive knowledge of certain departments. You are now in a position to fill your target position and to apply the personal and specialist qualifications you have obtained within your particular area of responsibility.

For the next step in your next career, many development and training options are open to you. For instance, after about a year you may be put forward for our next-generation leaders program – the path to a career as a manager. The Carl Zeiss technical ladder is also available to you.

Our Global Graduate Program is right for you if:

  • you have achieved above-average grades in a natural science, engineering or business administration degree
  • you have a maximum of three years' work experience (including internships)
  • your prior experience indicates interest and enthusiasm for exceptional activities
  • you have excellent cooperation and team skills, as well as a structured and result-oriented approach
  • you are willing to be flexibly assigned to various locations around the world
  • you have preferably gained some experience of being abroad
  • you have a very good command of English

This generic profile should serve as a source of orientation. We will evaluate all specialist and personal qualifications on a case-by-case basis. Your qualifications will be gaged based on the requirements of the respective position. After your professional qualifications have been tested in the respective department and following successful attendance at our regional Assessment Center, you have the best starting position for a specialist or management career at Carl Zeiss.

We look forward to receiving your application.
