A/Prof. Alex P Hunyor, Retina Associates, Chatswood NSW

Alex is a vitreoretinal subspecialist with a particular interest in ophthalmic imaging, especially Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT). Alex trained in ophthalmology in Melbourne, and subsequently undertook 3 subspecialty fellowships in vitreoretinal surgery and medical retina in Melbourne and the US. Alex is the director of Retina Associates and a member of the Vitreoretinal Unit at Sydney Eye Hospital. He is Associate Professor of Ophthalmology and Director of Vitreoretinal Services at the Australian School of Advanced Medicine, Macquarie University; and a Clinical Senior Lecturer and member of the Retinal Therapeutics Research Unit at the University of Sydney. He is involved in numerous clinical trials for treatment of retinal diseases. Alex’s practice was one of two Australian sites in the Cirrus Early Access Programme which assessed the Cirrus Spectral Domain HD-OCT prior to its commercial release.

2012 Ophthalmic Imaging Calendar Competition
Thank you for the overwhelming numbers of entries for the 2012 Ophthalmic Imaging Calendar competition. There were many excellent images, which made the job of A/Prof. Alex P Hunyor very difficult. We are pleased to announce the winning entry is from Dr Simon Chen of Vision Eye Institute, New South Wales who won for his amazing Asteroid Hyalosis montage image taken with the Carl Zeiss VISUCAM PRO NM. A well deserved prize for Dr Chen is the latest Apple 64GB iPad 2 with Wi-Fi + 3G, valued at $949 AUD.
Dr Chen’s image, together with the top 11 entries will be showcased in our exclusive 2012 calendar. As a thank you, each participant will receive a copy of the calendar in December.
